With reference to the Secretary of State's despatches of the 11th August, 1885 and 20th November, 1886, respecting the absence in some Colonies of any legislation corresponding to Parts of the Merchant Shipping Act of 1854 relative to wrecks and salvage, and to the expediency of introducing such legislation into the Colony, I have the honour to state that Mr. O'Malley informed us that he had considered the matter, and that he considered such legislation was necessary.
